January 22nd, 2017

1/22/2017

The Drama Continues.......

There is much to read about this weeks (January24) council decision to approve or deny the Jet Blue request for international flights.  LBReport, Beachcomber, The Signal, LBNF/FB page to name a few.

It is very interesting that 5th district council member Stacy Mungo, at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, January 20th thought it would be responsible of her to announce a meeting she is hosting at LGB with current airport manager, Jess Romo.  She scheduled this meeting for Monday, January 23rd 6-8pm.  I would suggest that this is Ms. Mungo's way to dissuade her constituents from participating in the Tuesday council meeting.  Much easier to vote against the folks you represent when they are not in the room.  And she can then announce her outstanding effort to communicate with the public.

Mungo stated that she has heard from over 500 concerned citizens and will now attempt to answer their questions.  Shouldn't this have been done before she moved this so far along?  It was Ms. Mungo who strongly supported the Jacobs study to gather more information, yet during her own council study session said not one word.

Our recommendation.....if you can't get enough of the LGB/FIS details or need a closer look at your 5th district council person in action then come on Monday's impromptu gathering.  If you have to choose between Monday and Tuesday.....Make It Tuesday!!!  Your presence does matter!

Stacy Mungo is in Jet Blue and the big money at the airport pocket. I knew something was up when she held the big public relations even at the airport not too long ago. People like her push public relations stunts to get the people (suckers who buy their propaganda) to go along with their plans and get their way. That means they get the money and you get the problems. Her and the people who use her do not like people who are too smart and figure out what they are up too. The last time I was at the City Hall meeting I noticed she kept her mouth shut and did not have much to say. I predict she will be voted out next time if she helps big money get their international airport. I guess we will just have to sue the city because the only thing they seem to understand is money, as long as they are getting it. They don't care if they lose money or cost others money because that money is not theirs and so they do not care. Take their money away then they care.

Where's Mungo's meeting? I'll go and encourage everyone to show up at the City Council meeting on the 24th.

Her meeting is from 6-8 p.m. on the second level of the main LGB terminal. See you there....but again, if one has to choose between the two meetings then Tuesday is the more important one.

People, again, I'm very to say but the City has already made a decision on this. The meetings & hearings are a show to make us think they listen to us. Let's all remember what these guys are doing to us when it's election time.

Separate letters sent to Mayor and City Council members. I urge all to do the same.

I sent you a letter a few weeks ago that you may or may not have read. Someone may have told you I called, or worse yet just put me on the list of yes and no's.

I listed 6 reasons I was against the airport expansion to international status.

Here are a few more.

1. Our homes will go down in value.

2 Citizens kindly gave you a 1% increase in sales taxes to one of the highest in the state at 10%. This is a huge jump in income for you which minimizes the importance of a bigger airport and the income it will bring to the city.

3, Despite the fines that have been levied against the airlines that also go to your general fund, the airlines seem not to mind the fines as the refuse to keep to schedules and you know from your own statistics how many times the have breached their trust with city and its citizens.

With your new stream of income you certainly don't need the income from an international airport and citizens deserve to be protected from all of the negatives of airport expansion and a rubber stamp report on the airport.

Please remember you represent the citizen, and not the entity called the city.

Sincerely,

Mike Vaccaro
District 7

I agree. Mungo is "a piece of work." Will be there Tuesday night.

Mungo mtg info - tonight- those who can go and persuade people to come on Tues anyway:

"...It is often difficult to make it downtown to City Hall on a Tuesday evening; therefore, on Monday, January 23 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. , I will be at the Airport (LGB) on the Second Floor of the Main Terminal at 4100 Donald Douglas Dr.*, along with Airport Director Jess Romo, to hear your concerns and answer any questions you may have in advance of Tuesday's Council meeting."

I like the idea that those who took campaign contributions from JetBlue should recuse themselves on the vote.
